# 15. Correlation with BTC

The correlation factor is a rolling value. The alert triggers when the specified value is reached, not when the candle closes.

The correlation value depends on the timeframe. On higher timeframes, it is usually higher and more stable. On lower timeframes, it has more noise.

Negative thresholds are allowed. You can use them to find coins that move against Bitcoin, for example: less than −0.5.

For more accurate signals, use correlation together with other factors, such as RSI or price.

<table data-full-width="true"><thead><tr><th width="198">Parameter</th><th>Description</th><th>Example</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>Correlation with BTC greater than</td><td>The alert triggers when the coin’s correlation with Bitcoin reaches or exceeds the specified value.</td><td>The alert will trigger if ETHUSDT correlation on the 1h timeframe rises to 0.8 or higher. This means the coin closely follows Bitcoin’s movements.</td></tr><tr><td>Correlation with BTC less than</td><td>The alert triggers when the correlation falls below the specified value, including negative values.</td><td>The alert will trigger if ZECUSDT correlation on the 4h timeframe falls to −0.5 or lower. This means the coin moves against Bitcoin.</td></tr></tbody></table>
